Matthew is Lead Physiotherapist and Director at Marple Physio, where there is a team of three chartered physiotherapists, as well as a sports massage practitioner and two podiatrists. Matthew graduated as a Chartered Physiotherapist from Pinderfields College of Physiotherapy in Wakefield, West Yorkshire in 1991. Since qualifying as a physiotherapist, he has been awarded a further Masters of Science degree in Manipulative Physiotherapy from the University of Brighton in 2001. 


Matthew gained experience initially in the NHS, and then worked for four years in the US. In the US, he attended courses with some of the world's leading physiotherapists. He studied therapeutic strapping techniques under Jenny McConnell, manual therapy techniques under Brian Mulligan, and shoulder techniques from Robert Donatelli. He developed an expertise in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, and then subsequently studied for his Masters degree. Matthew then worked in a private hospital in the UK, where he became the Lead outpatient physiotherapist. He has also worked for the English Institute of Sport, treating team GB athletes, and has worked with Howard Turner, to learn about Sacroiliac dysfunction.


Matthew now has eighteen years experience as a Chartered Physiotherapist and is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, the Manipulation Association of Chartered Physiotherapist, and the Association of Chartered Physiothepists in Sports Medicine. From his extensive training, continuous professional development and working with specialist orthopaedic consultants and physiotherapists, he had expertise in the treatment of sports injuries, shoulder injuries, neck, back and pelvis dysfunction and lower limb pain.
