Paediatrics
Paediatric Orthopaedics is the treatment of bone and joint conditions in children and young adults. These can be problems that a child is born with, either genetic, or the result of a birth injury. Alternatively, it may be due to a problem that develops in childhood as a result of infection, trauma or without any known cause.
Although all orthopaedic surgeons undergo some training in dealing with children's orthopaedic problems, most surgeons only deal with accidental injuries in children as part of their routine practice, and refer all other conditions to a Children's Specialist. This is because what is thought to be the best treatment may change with time, and only a Children's Orthopaedic Specialist will be able to offer the most up to date service and optimal care for your child. The Manchester Orthopaedic Group has one Children's Orthopaedic Specialist - Tahir Khan . He works at the Manchester Children's Hospital as part of his normal NHS commitment. He is a well respected expert on children's conditions, and he is able to offer a full range of treatments for children's conditions. He also treats young adults who continue to suffer from conditions developed in childhood, such as cerebral palsy and joint abnormalities. |
